Error writing file .

Also, no new writer document gets opened by "Ctrl+N" or "File->New->Text Document" form today.
I didnot get help on similar matter through the search on the forum.

Which operating system? Which OOo version? Where did you get your OOo version from?
With kind regards

Sir,
There was a quick reply to my thread by hol.sten, asking for the details of OS, oo version and the source of the oo. I have replied that too as:
OS: FC4
oo: OpenOffice.org 2.0/ version: 2.0.1
download from the open office site "http://www.openoffice.org/"
When no help was received, I removed all the packages (rpm -e openoffice...) and re-installed, but no improvements.
The spreadsheet new files get opened and closed without any problems, right since the problem first noted for writer documents.
Please help.
Regards.

Sir,
Matter resolved.
For some reasons, I had made one directory "/tmp/openOffice" and set this as path in "Tools->Options->Path->Temprary Files".
This directory had root priviledges, and after setting the priviledged for the user, the delight of openoffice is back on.
Thanks & Regards.

ha no i didn't realize that! Maybe Isropia isn't on here any longer but I'm having the same problem he was.
I have open office documents that I work on every day. When I work I hit save every few minutes. But sometimes I will put my computer to sleep, then when I open it back up and begin working again, I hit save and it shows me this message.
Error saving the document
Error writing File
If I close the documents every time I stop working, this message usually won't appear. But it is way easier to just keep everything open, since I work on it every day.
Right now, every time that happens, I just save it as a Microsoft Word document, (doc). I'm hoping that will make the error stop happening, but I'm not sure if that will cause a problem when I start uploading my work for people to review etc. I would like to just keep everything as ODT documents.
Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks! |

| This problem has been reported numerous times from at least 2005 from users with different operating systems, but when it happens to me, and I cannot save it anywhere, I copy all the content and paste it into a new document, and it saves fine. Thank God for OOo also. |
