I use OO writer almost exclusively and have it set to open and save .doc
I tried to play with Microsoft's online/web office just in case I'm at someone's house and without Word or OO. I downloaded (to my computer) the document I created and it is automatically in docx format. Then I tried to open it in OO and got an error (general input/output error).
So I want to make sure my OO can open a regular docx file and that my trouble is not associated with OO but only with this web Word.
Can someone please direct me to some docx file on the web somewhere that I can download and test my OO with?
(BTW I guess I'll use google docs for emergencies when I'm somewhere without my old 200 version of Word or the OO I use regularly.) |

Thank you so much! Not only did OO easily open 2 of these, including graphics and tables, but I learned a search lesson.
I guess the problem I started with is caused by Word's web program, where I can't open a downloaded copy from the web to my computer. |
