You might also be interested in Mozilla's developments - they have their application suite (a development from code from Netscape including an email client and browser) and the Firefox Application (Browser based on the browser in their main application suite) and Thunderbird (Email client based on the email client in their application suite) - these are available from the following site http://www.mozilla.org and there is among other things a Calendar extension available and now a standalone version of the Calendar Application known as Sunbird which is available at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird.html

Collectively these applications do most of what Outlook can do and do some other things as well - Mozilla say they are planning to focus on Firefox, Thunderbird and Sunbird, although currently new versions of the Calendar extension and the Mozilla Application Suite are still being developed.
