So,
First off, I know nothing about hacking. I don't really even know what I should be concerned about...but this is nonetheless concerning...if that makes sense?
The other day, I was writing an essay in my university's library, connected to the wireless. My computer ran out of batteries, and upon plugging it in and restarting it (oh, and I have a macbook pro) an error popped up, telling me to close useraccount *my name* on an iphone. I don't know how this could have happened...I was with a friend, who coincidentally has an iphone, and I did leave to go to the bathroom a few times...but I can't imagine he's the kind of person who'd even know how to do that...whatever that is...
A few days ago, the same error popped up, except it listed (this time i remembered to record it) blackberry-8df1@myuniversity.edu
Sorry for being so cryptic, but I like to protect my identity.
Anyways...wtf is wrong with openoffice? I reinstalled it, and the problem has since ceased. But I am concerned that my computer running out of batteries, or something (or, potentially, before it ran out) opened up a security threat.
helllllpppppp

These are pure guesses totally unencumbered by fact, but let us know:
1. Does your computer have bluetooth, and does your friend's iphone have bluetooth? Do they conenct automatically? That might create a connection and user account.
2. Were you connecting through your friend's iphone connections onto your university computer?
Do a thorough virus scan with a good, up-to-date antivirus and let us know the results. |

No to both questions. Bluetooth is turned off, as is network sharing in general, and I haven't accessed an iphone through open office. i did email a document to a friend with an iphone, but i'm pretty sure he read it on his macbook. I ran an antivirus check when the problem first occurred. It's since ceased since I reinstalled office, but left me a little shaken nonetheless.
Could it have just been a faulty error? still seems a little weird it would reference both an iphone and a blackberry...who knows, maybe they were just messing around.
i logged off of the wireless and changed my account password, in-case someone's spying on me or something. |
