Hello everyone, I'm new here and I've already used search but could not find exactly what I needed to solve my problem.
I want to be able to alternate different bullet points so I can clarify my notes for classes and I'll give you an example.
* Main point
-- sub point
* something else
-- something else
* Second point
-- sub point
etc. etc. etc.
I've went through all the options in the bullet points doesn't solve my problem. Doing it manually tends to set me back because it's a hassle because he fly's through his notes. If I could get pointed in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it |

Format>Bullets and Numbering...>Options
Click the 1 under Level and then click the Character (...) button and select the character you want as your level 1 bullet. Then click the 2 under Level and set the character you want for your level 2 bullet. Click OK. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.6 on Fedora 18, LibreOffice 4.0.2 on Ubuntu 13.04 (Double Boot) |

It is worthwhile here to work with list styles instead of with the button and "Format numbering/bullets". Using list styles is the only way to get full and consistent control on the appearance of bullets. _________________ --

I've done that, but it doesn't save for the next time when I go to take notes. I'd like to be able to set it and forget it, but I can't seem to find the right route. |

That is where you may need your custom template. You can use your custom template as the default template for new files as well. See this excellent article http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/7447 to obtain some insight in what templates are about. _________________ --

I've got a solution that I happened to stumble into.
I used to actually type in "* asdfjkal" and it would start the bullet point once i hit enter. but when I hit tab to make a sub point form the main point, it wouldn't change and I would have to do it manually.
The remedy I found was to actually to use "shift + f12" and that gives me what I basically needed (goes from bullet to open bullet to square back to bullet) and that will do for me. Thank you though for your guys help though |
