Hi,
I've made a table of content / index, and I want it to use the page numbers I've defined.
I have a document with 62. From page 5 to page 59 I use a style with page numbers running from 1 to 55. But when I insert the table of content, it counts from the first page of the document, and MY page 1 is shown as page 5.
How do I make the table of content use my page numbers? |

It should work correctly (i.e. show the page numbers you assigned) by default. Just did a quick test.
How exactly did you change the page numbers from page 5 on, i.e., using what procedure? _________________ --

| I've assigned a style to page 1-4, then another style to the pages 5-59. When I inserted the page numbers, I told them to appear on the pages with the [p. 5-59]-style. |

How did you specify the starting page number on the fifth page of your documents? _________________ --

| Insert page number. And in a text field I typed "-4". |

I do not find the menu item Insert - Page number. I do have an Insert - Fields - Page number menu, but that immediately inserts the page number, without text fields. I am sorry not being able to help with the current information. _________________ --

If you offset the inserted page number field by -4, that doesn't change the current page number, but merely instructs the field to display a value that's 4 lower than the current page number.
To reset the page number within your document, use Insert - Manual break. Select page break, a suitable page style for the next page, tick change page number and select a number. You then need to use page numbering without offset (remove the old fields, or edit them to remove the offset), and TOC/index references will be correct. |
