I have noticed that if I have a document with terms indexed, and I run through that document to hyphenate it, any word which happened to be at the end of a line and got hyphenated is indexed with the hyphen included in the entry. So my index, all of a sudden, has separate entries for "Antiprism," "An-tiprism," and "Anti-prism" which are not merged together. I can, of course, fix it by editing the index entries, but in a long document this is a major chore.
This is probably something that could be fixed in a subsequent version of OOo Writer -- it would require the construction of index entries to ignore soft hyphens -- but this post is more a warning to users of Writer to watch out about this. I would also like to request this bit be fixed, though I don't know where to make such requests. _________________ Running OpenOffice.org v. 3.3.0 under Windows 7 Home Premium |
