Hi!

I've got a Problem with OpenOffice. Whenever I export a PDF from OpenOffice, the Font I choose (FrutigerNextLT - From the Linotype Library) is missing in the PDF. Instead, the whole Text is in Times New Roman. Similar things happen if I use different Font. It only works with standart System Fonts linke Times New Roman, Lucida, Verdana etc.

Even worse: when I open the PDF in Illustrator, the whole Text is messed-up
&/(/"/(/((&&//=)==

When I try to Import a DOC File created in OpenOffice into Ilustrator (to convert it to PDF) the a Table in the Document is not imported properly, so this is no option either.

In other Programs, there is an Option to embedd the Font within the PDF. Where is that Option in OpenOffice or how can I fix the Problem.

Please Help! Crying or Very sad Question

I am struggling with the same problem when using certain OpenType fonts from Adobe (Myriad Pro, Minion etc.) Sad

I had the same problem. I found that if you:
1. Use Print to print to 'PDF 1.4 Converter' using the Printer Name drop-down and;
2. ensure the 'Print to file' checkbox is checked,
you should get correctly renderered fonts in your PDF file.

Hope it works for you,

John.

That does not sound like an OpenOffice feature? Printer names represents installed drivers, and no drivers are installed with OOo.

Here's a free PDF program I've found to be useful. It acts as a "printer" driver, and so is simple to use. It might be worth a try to see if it works for this particular problem. This is the lite [they call it the 'white'] version:

There is a problem with some Opentype Fonts, if they include PS outlines, instead of Truetype outlines:

Is there a tool somewhere that will convert otf fonts with ps outlines to tt outlines so that the pdf export will work?
