|

Hello,
I created a spreadsheet and disabled "header on" in "page style" and then saved my document. However, if I reload the document, the "header on" option is enabled again. Is there any way I can have this option disabled for good? |

Hello fbackelj
I have performed the same task that you described with the result that the header is not presented when I reopen the file. It did what was expected fo that command. I saved in the .sxc format. I suspect the same result if saved as a template with .stc format.
What file format are you saving the file in? When I save in Microsoft Excel format I get the same loss of setting as you do.

I did start from Excel files I had, but now they are all saved as .sxc files. Can you check whether or not you also experience the problem after saving it to a .sxc file?
Thanks in advance,
best regards,

Hello Franky
Sorry to leave so much time to reply. Somehow I missed seeing your response.
At home I do not have Excel so I will try it in the morning as you requested.

Franky
I have tested the Excel file import as follows:
Created an Excel file with header & footer.
Saved the Excel file in xls format
Opened the file in OOo 1.0.2 Calc
The Excel header & footer texts were not imported. The header & footer were turned on in the resulting OOo file.
Saving and reopening had no effect on the lack of appearance of the Excel header & footer in OOo Calc!!
This issue is one I am interested in working better than our experience as our company prepares for a probable conversion to OOo. I have looked for the references in my 2 favorite books on the program:
Using StarOffice 6.0 - Koch
StarOffice 6.0 Companion - Haugland & Jones
Neither reference tackled this topic as a known deficiency.
Might there be someone elseable to add some needed insight?
