English (UK)

I'm sure the spell check was working until I added a table of contents to my document (may be purely coincidental)

What's the content of you dictionary.lst then? And the content of the respective folder?

Here's what's in the .lst file. Actually, now I look closely, there's more US and less UK than I expected. Do I need to edit it?

# "THES" - thesaurus files

# Field 2: Language code from Locale "en" or "de" or "pt" ...

# Field 3: Country Code from Locale "US" or "GB" or "PT"

THES en US th_en_US

What's in the share.ooo folder is as follows

.AFF - en_GB, en_US, it_IT

.DAT - th_en_US

.DIC - en_GB, en_US, hyph_da_DK, hyph_de_DE, hyph_en_GB, hyph_en_US, hyph_it_IT, hyph_ru_RU, it_IT

.IDX - th_en_US

OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 text document - DicOOo, FontOOo

.text - ReadMe_en_GB, ReadMe_hyph_en_GB, ReadMe_it_IT

Cheers

Well, you do have to edit it if you want to check English(UK) (and I guess, it's precisely your intention). Just add:
Code:
DICT en GB en_GB

and don't forget to restart everything, including Quickstarter, if you use it.
You don't have thesaurus for English(UK) (and I'm not sure, if it extists). If you need it desperately, you can engage English(US) for that:
Code:
THES en GB th_en_US

Well this is odd, my spell checker works, but not the autospellchecker. Any ideas? Confused

Hi,

I have been happily using 1.1.0 and went to 1.1.1 then the spell checker broke. I have just deleted the old 1.1.1 directory structure after uninstalling 1.1.1 and have installed 1.1.2

The spellchecked does not work anymore.

Even the USA one doesn't pick up any mistake, it goes right through the text document as says it's ok.

What has happenened here? I checked on my wifes computer, which ordinarily I daren't touch, and the same thing has happened.

Normally I try to use the AU or UK dictionarys, but they don't appear in the options, even though they are in the share\ooo directory.

I am using win XP pro

This is dam annoying as I have an assignment due in tomorrow.

Steve

After 1.0, the location of the dictionaries was moved. There is information on www.openoffice.org about the change. Check for the Dict folder location and move the files there.

As for AutoSpell Check, I use the the American version, simply copying it to a file with the name necessary for British English. Now I cannot remember which names go with which languages. But here are the ones I have which give me both Englishes.
