Thanks. But that calls for installing a plugin, which I did. The plugin has a completely different name from the original spell checker.
I don't know if I'm sure about all that. _________________ Thanks a million - JimL |

I wish I could tell you. I didn't write down the error I got. It went something like, "The spell checker has halted. There is a corrupted file [somewhere]..." Do NOT take that wording as anything intended to actually be accurate. My memory isn't what it used to be.
I'm referring to the spell checker you get when you click the ABC icon with the blue check mark - the one that will fix all occurrences of a misspelled word if you tell it to, etc.
The regular spell checker continues to work, highlighting misspelled words with a red zigzagged line (is that even a part of OOo?), but the one you get from clicking the ABC icon puked out. It had run fine for months, then suddenly gave me that error on one document. I finished the document using the regular highlighting spell checker, one word at a time. Agonizingly slow.
I think I'll re-install OOo from scratch and see if that doesn't fix it. This plug-in thing doesn't even use the same dictionary. _________________ Thanks a million - JimL |
