Dear amyinnc,
Mike Sauer wrote in "Tutorials For OpenOffice" a tutorial "Create Labels". His rectangular labels are for beer but using the circle tool you will be able to design round ones also.
I used several of his suggestions to design a tile lay-out for one of my downstairs rooms. That design project took several days to accomplish - I'm a first-time user and documentation seems scarce.
You can do it !
