I cut and paste a news brief from a website into OOWriter for ease of reading and word/spell checking.

A recent website redesign locks up these pastes which I can only assume is caused by some embedded html.

Is there a way to convert this paste to text only on the fly since I just read what is there and have finished with it?

Hi,

Try Paste Special and paste as unformatted text.

I've come *here* for the help.

As to the Help button, there is no listing for Paste Special. The only Help file referent is for "pasting" various things from spreadsheets and whatnot.

Please be specific.

You are not a bit inquisitive, are you? Try the Edit menu, just below Paste.

Please note that we're all volunteers/users of the software, we're not a well-paid customer service department.

There is enough information in the help file.

Searching for Paste Special gives the following results:
A. Pasting Contents in Special Formats
Quote:
Pasting clipboard contents using a dialog
1. Choose Edit - Paste special.
2. Select one of the options and click OK.
If you are in a spreadsheet and the contents of the clipboard are spreadsheet cells, then a different Paste Special dialog appears. Use the Paste Special dialog to copy cells using basic or advanced options.
B. Inserting Data From Text Documents
Quote:
You can insert text into other document types, such as spreadsheets and presentations. Note that there is a difference between whether the text is inserted into a text frame, a spreadsheet cell, or into the outline view of a presentation.
If you copy text to the clipboard, you can paste it with or without text attributes. Use the shortcut keys Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.
C. List of General Shortcut Keys in OpenOffice.org
Quote:
List of General Shortcut Keys in OpenOffice.org
The shortcut keys are shown on the right hand side of the menu lists next to the corresponding menu command.
Shortcut Keys: Effect
Ctrl+Shift+V: Opens the Paste Special dialog.

Found it. It works. I was looking at the right click menu. The correct command to paste special is under the edit tab.
