Hey, congrats! Looks like a terrific resource for using Calc effectively, but 560 pages? I have enough IT reference books to keep me supplied with doorstops for 50 years. Is it available in any electronic form?

BTW, did you use OOo to write it?

Here is a sample, including ABS and DATEVALUE
http://www.devguide.net/sites/devguide.net/files/ooocfaf-ed-01-sample-01.pdf

Please allow me a comment on DATEVALUE
sample.pdf wrote:

Syntax: DATEVALUE(text)
The DATEVALUE function converts the given date text string into the equivalent
internal time number. The date is given is the day/month/year format.
...

String conversion depends on the locale setting.
DATEVALUE("31/12/1999") fails when you set locale to en-US.

I recommend Writely.com (http://writely.com/) also known as Google Docs (http://docs.google.com/)

When I am on a computer without the OpenOffice.org application installed, I can edit text and database documents online and convert them to MS Word and Excel formats. The online application will also open documents in the old OpenOffice.org 1.x.x format.
