|
|
Hi guys.
Today i faced a "problem" with Open Office Calc 3.3.0 in Windows XP / Windows Server 2003:
===========================
The problem:
===========================
Try to open an XML file saved as "filename", that means, without extension or "filename.xlm" with *.xml extension.
Open Office Calc just shows a blank/empty spreadsheet, nor errors or warnings.
===========================
Facing the problem
===========================
I found this statement in the file:
<x:WorksheetOptions> </x:WorksheetOptions>
If you delete this statement, file is readed but no formated.
===========================
Solution
===========================
Save the file as filename.xls it works like a charm.
I saved a copy of the procedure in my blog http://asdfg.com.ar/wordpress/xml-en-open-office-calc-abre-en-blanco-pero-tiene-datos/ (spanish) for reference.
===========================
Aditional Question
===========================
Anyway, is it a bug of Oo 3.3.0? maybe i need to enable some option? I tested same in several computers (almost 5) including Windows XP and Server 2003.
**EDIT: Btw, i tested this in Ubuntu with Oo 3.2 and at least it shows you a Input / Output error
Thanks in advance. _________________

Since Excel-XML is rather outdated and this project has far more consumers and complainers than contributors, nobody will ever write a better XML import filter for Excel specific XML. _________________ Rest in peace, oooforum.org

That must be true, but i didn't ask for "filter or fix" i just was wondering why it happens.
Anyway, i solved it before come here and post, hoping this will be usefull for 2 or 3 people with the same problem. _________________
