The OpenOffice that I have in my MacBook Pro is extremely slow. It is slow to open. It is slow to start a new work. It is always slow.
The version is. OpenOffice.3.
From the time that I do the click in the program to it is ready to used. I does take between 1 to 2 minutes. Then, working with the program. It takes time from one step to another. Like Windows did it 20 years ago.
Beside OpenOffice, I have only original Mac programs on my MBP. Safari. IPhoto, Numbers, Keynote, Pages. And so on.
I bought it last december. MacBook Pro 15". Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7. Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)
Before to instal OpenOffice. My MBP did work like a jet. It is affecting all the computer performance. In fact If I do not find the answer. I am thinking to erase the OpenOffice. |

Moved.
What version? Do you have many extensions? How many other programs do you have running? What exactly do you define as "slow"? Please give more information. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

Added the extra information to your first post.
That sounds serious enough. I'm not an Apple user, and there aren't many Apple users on this forum, I think. You can try the new one (user.services.openoffice.org). _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

I've noticed this sometimes (and I'm using a PC). Opening an existing document and then creating a new one seems to help.
I suspect that the issue is the way the suite is bundled together (I don't know the technical terms, so apologies if I use them wrong). Base (and MS's Access) take a long time to load for whatever reason. The problem is, few even use Base. You might suggest separating that from the rest in the future. |
