I defined new variables as "Number range" or "User Field" types (these are the ones I tried) in a template (.ott). So I can select them from a document that uses this template (insert-field-other, under "selction") from the template document or from a new document I create using this template.
The problem is I CANNOT see these variables on the documents that contained this template.
They appear, though, in the master document.
Anyone can shed light on this issue?
Thank you very much! _________________ Thank you!!

So you probably can't do that in a template. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

I can do this because when I open a new document I see it works perfectly. The problem is that it does not "update" for existing documents.
I have more or less the same kind of problem when ediding the document properties. For example, with the author field: if I change the author on the document properties it does not change on the field in the document (even if I update fields - F9). This is precisly what fields are for!!
On the other hand, if I insert an author field on a new document it displays the information updated. _________________ Thank you!!

I think that the docinformation "Author" references to the author to the moment when the document was created and does not updates _________________ Thank you!!
