|
|
How can I have portrait headers for a landscape page? I found out a few links (for example this one) which are very old. They suggest to use text text boxes. Is there any better solution at the moment?
Thanks. _________________ Regards, Alexander. http://sjcomp.com |

The other way is to leave the page as portrait, but rotate the table (or landscape text) by putting it inside a frame and changing the text direction. The suggested method of using a text frame for the header is better IMO as you don't get a stiff neck when trying to edit the landscape page. You can now insert (page number or Chapter) fields in Text Frames. _________________ Fonts * Opera * Oo Tips * FAQ * New Forum

| If you want this on several pages then you can open a header and insert a frame in it. In the frame dialog make sure Follow Text Flow is not checked then the frame can be dragged where need and its text rotated (Format > Characters > Position tab). |

If it makes you feel any better, Word has to do it that way too. Seems to be part of the challenge when using a word processor to try to handle page layout. _________________ Cheers!

I have landscape pages and I want headers and footers as in portrait pages. I wan odd an even pages to have different content. Do I have to insert it manually (doing it for one and copy-paste for the rest) on every page?
This would be very tedious and adding or deleting a page before would mean all the headers will have to change. _________________ Thank you!!

Yes, I need text rotated in headers and footers.
The solution to do it automaticly for each page is to anchor the frames that contain the actual header and footer to a header -or footer- on a landscape page. God thanks! That will save me a precious amount of time and will make the document look good!!
Thanks for the link!!!!
PS: Anyway i would like to have different headers dependin on the page position (left/ritght) and this is not possible this way. _________________ Thank you!!

On the Header or Footer tab, dependent on where you want to anchor the frame, un-tick Same content left/right. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

So simply! Thanks a lot flors_v!
I was already thinking about conditional format, using variables (page number), mod function...
PS: I cannot mark this as SOLVED, as I didn't post it originally _________________ Thank you!!

sorry, but one more question. Is there a simple way to align "right" (or center) the rotated text? I thought about inserting another smaller frame on the right (center) position of the header frame.
[EDITED]
I aligned right by inserting another frame inside the header and
anchor to paragraph
position
horizontal center to paragraph area
vertical bottom to entire page
(checked) follow text flow _________________ Thank you!!

I don't really know - it's quite messy. You may have to experiment a bit or do it the hard way by calculating the correct positions yourself. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista
