How would I print to 4x6 cards using an HP Photosmart printer? For envelopes, I stack them in the paper feeder section, pushed back to the back right corner.
If I have a regular size document with information only at the top (which would fit on a 4x6 card), I don't see any settings under Print to make sure it prints correctly.
And when I put 4x6 paper in, the printer tells me to put it in the photo tray. But when I do that, it prints only a small piece of the message. Plus, that tray would not hold enough cards for a big job.
When I play with landscape vs portrait, it turns the message sideways. |

If you have a regular size document, the printer will try to print a regular size sheet, even if you feed it 4x6 paper.
I used to print a mail merge on 4x6 cards every month, but a regular document would work the same way... you must start with a new document in Writer, and modify the margins of your document to allow for a 4x6 print area. I used 2-up card stock.. that is, 2 4x6 cards on an 8-1/2 x 11 page with tear-off margins.
You'll have to experiment a bit to figure out if you should keep your text in the top corner of the page, or center it with the margins adjusted to a 4x6 page print area. Centered worked for me with the 2-up layout.
Have fun....
