Don't use that option, don't even install it.
You won't get a new version of OOo for some months - the source code has been donated to Apache, and the developers are now adjusting the code so it suits Apache's licensing rules. In the meantime you can try LibreOffice, but even then updates aren't published so often that you want them to be detected and installed automatically. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

I've seen lots of complaints about it not working correctly recently. I have disabled it long ago. Why do you want to update if no update is available? What's the point? _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

| I just want to know if it's working or not because whenever an update is released, I want to know that it will download it for me. |

| The answer is as given. Its not working now and may not work in the future. Its not a very robust feature and all it does is install the complete new version not an update. |

|
|
I just re-installed OpenOffice, but I want to check for updates. When I click "check for updates", the response is
"Could not establish network connection to update36.services.openoffice.org.". If "update36.services.openoffice.org" is no good any more (as reported in previous replies), then how do we manually check for updates? |

Thomasjk - Thank you.
I hate going to the OpenOffice website everyday to check for a newer version .
I hope the "Check for updates" link in the program is fixed in the next version of OpenOffice. |

| Its going to be a long time before the next version is released by the Apache Software Foundation. No need to check every day. |
