I have been unable to find anything discussing this. Our organization (about 450 members) issues an address/phone booklet yearly. Current format is an 8.5 x11 page printed in landscape then cut to form a page of 4.25 x 5.5 with the names in two columns top to bottom then right and down, then sent to the printers. Have been able to replicate by using labels with a Base database file but the printing always goes left to right then down in the columns. At times it is correct but not often. The problem with using the labels format is that little is saved and you have to start all over the next printing. Have tried the Base reports and the mail merge but to no avail. Is anyone aware of any template or procedure which would accomplish this task? I maintain the membership in a Base database and would like to continue using that.
Thanks in advance for any help you might offer.
Banffguy.

After you create the label document do Format Page and give it 4 columns. The fields will be filled down the column then up to the next column.

This worked for me when I filled the fields using the Data to Fields icon* but when I attempted to print AOO3.4 under Windows crashed.

* Open document, press F4, open database, open Tables item, click your table, click in the up-most box to the left of the records to select them all and click the Data to Fields icon.
