Hi,
In Calc, when I select a column, then Rt click then click Insert Columns I get a message " Filled cells cannot be shifted beyond the sheet "
I could not find an explanation for this message in Help.
As far as I know, I used the same method earlier today and inserted two columns OK.
Please explain as if to a 9-year-old (although I am 70).
Thanks

Have you checked column AMJ for a value that would be pushed off the sheet if Calc did allow you to insert a column?

OK, this is how I would demonstrate it to a 9 year old:
1) Open a new blank spreadsheet, enter something in F20, insert columns and rows and watch how F20 moves to the right when you insert to the left and how F20 moves down when you insert above.
2) Ctrl+Down jumps from a blank to the next non-blank cell or from a non-blank to the next gap. In a blank column, the cell cursor lands on the last row.
3) From here Ctrl+Right arrow takes you to the bottom-right cell of the blank sheet.
4) Enter any content into that cell.
5) Try to insert rows and columns. This is rejected because your entered data would fall off the sheet borders.
In unknown terrain Ctrl+End jumps to the last (bottom-right) used cell. _________________ Rest in peace, oooforum.org
