Please bear with me and I hope I can explain it right..In MS Excel when I created a database and use this for an instance...Columns A-J would be plant info ie: column A plant name, column B Latin name, and say column F would be plant location..in this column there would be locations like Street Bed, fountain bed, west end bed etc..In MS Excel, there would be tiny black arrows next to the column header name pointing down. when clicking on this arrow, it would give you a drop down list of all the different locations..If you chose for ex "Fountain bed", it would give you a list of all the flowers which were planted in this bed..Does this exist in OPen Office Calc..if so, what is it called and how is it activated..

Thanks
Gene

Gene:

Welcome to the forum

Per your description, what you want is to Filter the data, probably Auto-Filter. Smile
  1. Select your column range, EITHER,
    1. For example, A1:A1048567
    2. click on the A ( or other column ) to select the column

  2. From the Menu: Data -> Filter -> AutoFilter

  3. Click on the newly visible drop down arrow and select your choice

Just as an FYI ( For Your Information ) you can read about it in Calc Help, topic, filters;applying/removing

I hope this helps, please be sure to let me / us know.

Thanks to add [Solved] in your first post Title ( edit button ) if your issue has been fixed / resolved.
