The behavior of Calc has changed between OOo 3.3.0 and 3.3.4 when pasting a multi cell selection.
I have found a few related threads on this pasteing issue but haven't seen anything to clearly resolve it.
The Issue:
- Select a cell range and Copy the contents to the clipboard
- Move to a new position and Paste or Paste Special
Paste Behavior In OOo 3.3.0
- The contents of the clipboard are pasted at the new location.
Paste Behavior In OOo 3.4.0
- The Text Import dialog appears.
Paste Special Behavior In OOo 3.3.0
- The Paste Special dialog appears with flexible options including Flags for Text, Numbers, Formats, Formulas etc.
Paste Special Behavior In OOo 3.4.0
- The Text Import dialog appears.
i.e. In OOo 3.4.0 most of the flexibility provided by the Paste Special dialog is lost. This is a significant step backward in my opinion.
Does anyone know how to access the old Paste Special dialog in OOo 3.4.0 ?????
I have tried this on numerous machines and found the same result. |

There looks a further issue with OO 3.4 pasting :-
(1) Copy, say, a text block of 20 lines (from a table in a Writer document),
(2) Paste (paste special, RTF format) to Calc with only 20 lines not protected, ie. a "hole" just large enough to hold the data going to get imported.
Process will fail - cell protected returned. However, if you copy-and-paste 19 text lines into the 20 rows, it will get through without problem. In such a way, you will always have to copy-and-paste one line less, and handling the outstanding line afterwards. One process becomes two after OO upgrade.
This is not convenient.
