|
|
I've been using Drawing for this purpose, mostly as A4 'newsletters' for a couple of groups I belong to.
I recognise Drawing is not Publisher or a Quark software, but it would be nice to create newspaper style columns in templates, A4 and A3 or even on page. Looked in Help, but nothing seems to be relevant. Any comments welcome and if anyone else is using Drawing for this kind of purpose.
Currently creating a 40th birthday series of tabloid front pages for a family member and trying to get text to balance across the page is frustrating. |

| Writer has better tools for text handling. See if Insert - Frame in Writer does the trick. (You can link those frames.) |

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question directly because I haven't gotten that much into Draw.
I realize this probably won't help you short-term as it does have a learning curve, but Scribus is a free and open source alternative to Quark/PageMaker/InDesign. I've used it for newsletters with some success, although as I said, it has a bit of a learning curve, so at least to start off with, you'll have a hard time hammering out something quickly. I will say it is very heavily reliant on styles, although by default, there aren't many styles set up (I spent about half the time on my first newsletter configuring the styles, and the other half working on the newsletter itself). _________________ Laugh at life or life will laugh at you. |
