"Insert Section" has popped up to prevent a simple

I was trying to move a draft I made in Notepad to OO Writer to get a word count. Insert Section popped up and I had never seen or used it before. Perhaps an errant keystroke engaged it. Now I can't get rid of it.

How do I completely clear the form of hidden prompts and paragraph markers?

I have looked at sample "solved" cases of these problems from the search engine but still don't know how to get a completely fresh page that is ready to accept a paste. There is also a stray paragraph marker at top of form which I cannot clear.

My use of Writer is limited to these simple tasks and I've had no problems with Insert Section until now.
