|

Hello
Since some days, I wonder why, the server for www.openoffice.org is VERY slow. I have to wait about 30 secs for each page to load. This makes it impossible to work interactively.
I would like to know if I am the only one having problems with the speed of the server. |

Main page took 3 seconds to come up and fully load. Other pages took 1 to 5 seconds to fully load (only tested 6 pages). I am on 192kbps broadband (actually, at that speed I think it should be called "just slightly wide band"). _________________ dpeach

The mine will be 'slightly more genorous narrow band' (at max download speed of 105kbps)
I t takes about 2 to 3 seconds to load the main page of OOo.
To the original poster,
would you consider turning off all graphics in your browser, that will at leaset cut the loading time considerably. |

Yes, it has been extremly slow for the last few days for me as well, I am only on dial up, so try just over 2 minutes for something to appear, over 3 minutes to complete loading!
Normal pages and sites (of similar content) take around 10 to 13 seconds. The OpenOffice.org site is the only one I amongst the web pages I regularly visit that is so slow.
This happened once before as well, I dont know what the problem was then either, it just seemed to 'come good' again.
Edit - spelling mistake |

Still very slow: 30 sec with a 50 Kbps ADSL broad band.
Once it starts loading, it goes very fast: 1-2 sec for loading a page, with images. |

The previous post was from January 2005. Maybe that has something to do with it? _________________

I just wanted to close this post in a clean way. I never came back since january 2005 because the response time of the site was slow, so I can't say when the problem disappeared.
I never knew why I had a delay of 30 secs before starting to load the pages with this site some monthes ago. So let's close this thread. _________________ Pierre François
