Moving up to 1.1.3 by upgrading to Mandrake 10.1 has got rid of one default issue that was bugging me but brought another one in exchange: File > Open now displays dates in US format rather than the European format it should pick up from my locale settings. (Belgium) I'm sure I once saw a reference to changing this, but haven't managed to track it down again. All help welcome. _________________ Niels Grundtvig Nielsen

Aha! but I had "default", and would have hoped that default settings from a European-based distro might dare to be European. <g> Thanks for the tip; changing my locale (though there's nothing in the dialogue to say it will affect dates ) seems to have done the trick. _________________ Niels Grundtvig Nielsen
