I have a dual boot Gentoo/WinXP machine. I would like to have OpenOffice run on both of them. I am ready to get rid of MS Offiice on my WinXP machine but I don't want to have to open all my *.doc and *.xls files and save them as OpenOffice equivalents one at a time.

Is there a command line method that I could do in a batch? Either from Windows or Linux would be fine. The files are on a shared partition.

Thanks for the help,

~ Justin

Hi curmudgeon42,

Not to be cynical, but you will be opening them one at a time, why not save them when you first open them under OOo. I have found that keeping two versions of any document can be a nightmare...was it last edited by M$ Office or not?...once you convert them you will know for sure Wink

I, too, have a dual boot Gentoo/WinXP PC and a dual boot Gentoo/Win2KPC...I use Crossover office to have a look at the M$ Office files when I need to...and now rarely enter the world of Micro$oft!
