Dear Friends,

I have successfully converted openoffice 1.1.x to msi format using winstall LE tool (A Veritas software). Now this openoffice in msi format is getting installed properly. I mean all the users are able to use this software inluding administrator & normal user. shortcut is created in "Sytemroot\Document and settings\all users\".

Steps to create.

Take a snapshot using the Winstall LE tool. After getting the msi package, Open winstall console and edit this msi file. click general, in the right side you will see a windows displaying some few. In that choose "Install per machine" option and then save. Now you will get the modified MSI package format which is better than native setup. Since it does not create shortcut in all users profile.

Now I could roll out Open Office to My entire network.

If anybody needs help, reg. this pls donot hesitate to contact me.

Cheers,
Khaja

This looks like a great solution, especially as wininstall LE is free. A pity it wasn't available earlier. Is it possible to make a universal conversion that anyone could download, or is it dependant on the details of the local machine?

When OOo 2.0 is released, it will be using MSI installs by default.

OOo 2.0 should go into beta soon.
