| Being able to use OOo to send e-mails directly without attaching files has been a request ever since this feature was removed. StarOffice 5 had it, if I remember well. Now it's back on 2.0 but it doesn't seem to be able to find the JavaMail installed on my system. Has anyone had any luck on setting up the environment for 2.0 to use JavaMail? |

| I, too, really appreciate the ability to send merge letters to email which shuld be possible with 2.0. According to a post some time ago, this feature is disabled in 2.0, although it can be done with the beta StarOffice8 that is out. It has a few quirks, but it is veryusable for small batches of letters (<200). The capability is there, but Sun may have reserved it. Too bad. |

someone wrote a python plug-in for OOo which will make it work - see here:

it seems Sun did reserve it - so no matter if you have javamail or not, it still won't work. But this python thing will. In fact I think the actual mailing is done with some python, circumventing the javamail. I moved my javamail jar files out of the classpath to test this theory, and the email merge still worked, so i'm pretty sure the javamail message in there is just a leftover from staroffice. i guess they didn't expect so many people to latch on to it and actually TRY to install javamail ... |
