|

Hi
I think that it would be a good idea to allow formula editing in Latex syntax. The advantage would be that many users who want to write formulas are already used to this syntax.
This idea could also be used to insert special symbols like the greek letters etc into normal text by just typing \alpha (that will then be auto-replaced to the symbol alpha) |

If you want this functionality it's already there. The auto replacement can be configured by the user (at least for your example). I used it for my thesis because I was bothered of inserting special characters. Disadvantage, it must be done manually. Maybe one can define a set of such expression and make it available (installable) for normal users. Has anybody an idea how? However, most users will use Math for mathematical expressions in Writer which satisfies most needs and is easy to learn. But I must admit that some a feature like a LaTeX interpreter would be fine. I also miss some functionality that can be found in Kate or Kile (or anything similar). _________________ joerg04
