Hi, i've this question... i want to migrate entirely to linux, but my main problem is that i use a ms-access database with forms to enter people, print grouped people, and similar actions...

I've downloaded openoffice 2.0 beta and i've found that it opens the data tables but the forms and macros are not migrated.. it is possible to migrate them or to rebuild them in any way??

Please, notice that i'm not a soft programmer, so i don't now anything about sql servers, firebird, etc.... if you could tell me how to make it, if there is an easy way...

Thanks in advance Wink

As far as I know: No. It's the same with VBA code in Excel and Word. They cannot be converted automatically.

I suppose there is only the hard way: Rebuild them new.

With kind regards

At this time Base works well with tables, relations and generic forms (event if you will get crash, usually you will not lose all data). However, only simple select queries are supported, reporting possibilities are absolutely generic, and modules has many limitations. Built in HSQL database engine supports only one simultaneous connection without any user/security management.
So, you can migrate some simple "archive type" database, but you will fail with advanced ones which need complicated forms, reporting, queries, modules and security.

@Valdis

IT is possible to do advanced queries in OOo DB, you just have to do it with SQL rather than use the GUI of the query builder.

I have to admit, in its current form the query options are severely limited compared to MSAccess. But its slowly getting there.
