Many other pages point to the Download Central Page, which then links (supposedly) to a page where one can download version 1.1.4. When I get there, only the patch for 1.1.4 and the beta for 1.9 (?) are available to download. Yet the front page for all the versions indicates that 1.9 is not yet a stable version!
The offending, end-of-the-line-for-downloads page is at this URL:

Where do I go to download 1.1.4, if it is still available? |

To download it at that page you must select your launguage, OS and a mirror site from the dropdown boxes in the big blue section in the centre of the page.
Alternatively you could try one of the torrents if you have a client for it.

It seems obvious that the wording in the first paragraph of the blue area on the download page is leading some to think it is for the 2 beta when the link provided will simply take you to that version if you want it.
Just leave the link alone and fill in the drop downs as mentioned above to get 1.1.4. |

Well, most of what I do involves close reading of texts. In this instance paying close attention to the text indicated I couldn't download 1.1.4 from the download site.
Nice to know that others have gotten similarly confused; and nice to know that there is a such a thorough explication of the steps, with screens. Thank you, 8 days a week.
