| Hi this might be a really easy question to answer but is there any way yet to use true type fonts in the writer? I am using version 1.1.4. Let me know. |

Yes I've done it many times. You need to install the fonts first. How you do this depends on your operating system. With older Windows versions, you can drag and drop the font file onto the fonts control panel. (For XP/Mac/Linux sorry I have no idea.)
I can't remember if openoffice picks up the new fonts automatically. If not you'd have to restart it. |

Corel has FontNav which comes with their Wordperfect. A freeware program to examine/install is "The Font Thing" <--- may be one word. Installed fonts are useable by any Windows program designed to use them.

On Windows XP OOo uses all installed TrueType Fonts.
On a *nix system you can use "spadmin" (located where soffice is located, for example /opt/OpenOffice1.1.4/programs/spadmin) to install additional TrueType Fonts.
With kind regards

Hi this is Jagadeesh , studying Final B.E. from India . Iam doing my summer project for My native language fonts implementation i.e. telugu , so i know the answer for ur question.
In windows or other non *nix systems it is similar that our senoirs said.
but in Linux the configuration is done at individual levels,
For OOo writer to Install the fonts,
go to the corresponding directory where OO is installed ,like
cd ~/OpenOffice
and search for the "spadmin" executable file ,
and go to the directory and execute it like ./spadmin.
and click the "fonts" buttons and add whatever fonts u want to Install ,whicever in default are activated in OO.

That's a task for "spadmin". It's located in your OpenOffice.org program directory. I don't no Mepis but perhaps the path to that program will be someting like "/opt/OpenOffice.org 1.1.4/program".
With "spadmin" you can install fonts and printers. I use it on Solaris and it does what it should.
