| Its default directory appears to be determined by the last directory opened for a document in OO. Is there a way to configure OO to just open the same directory each time? |

Hi mikeymike,
I don't think there is  . I use such a variety of ways of opening files, I forget what each dialog box displays. For the behaviour you describe I usually use Explorer.
