In case you didn't notice, there's a new front page at OOoForum.org. Since there previously was no front page, I'm sure you'll consider it an improvement. If you run into any oddities or bugs, please let me know. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I know why it was doing this. Basically, session management is done using cookies and domain names. All site links use the domain www.oooforum.org and assuming you start with this domain in your URL bar, you should be okay. However, if you enter the site at oooforum.org (without the www) and login, clicking on links that use the 'www' WILL break your session.
The fix is pretty simple. All server aliases now redirect to the one official site address, which is http://www.oooforum.org. Even if you come into the site with a different URL, the URL will be rewritten to the correct one.
Thanks for pointing this out. If you find any other problems with the new front page or the site in general, please let me know. Thanks!

Have you tried logging in to http://www.oooforum.org without the trailing period? I just logged in via the start page and it seems to work fine.
Try clearing your cookies. Maybe there's something lingering in there you don't want. |

Both these URLs should point to the same page: index.php in the root directory of the site, which is the new front page.
The only reason I can think of why you would see two different pages using the above URLs is that you've cached the old index page http://www.oooforum.org/index.html which was no more than a redirect page to http://www.oooforum.org/forum/. Your browser may still be loading the old page and redirecting you.
You might clear your cache so that the previous index page gets purged from your system. The OOoForum.org logo in the header area should always link back to the home page, so try clicking on that to access the new front page. If you still see the old forum index page, you need to clear your cache. |

Yeah, a logout link on the home page would be nice. |

Yes, it also occurred to me that a logout link would be useful on the front page. It should show up in the next rev, whenever that is!
On the issue of posts showing up as new threads since last visit, not sure if what you're seeing is a bug or a feature. When you post a new message, the system WILL consider your post as a "post since last visit" since technically, it wasn't there the last time you visited the site. But perhaps you're seeing something else as well?
Thanks for the suggestions. Keep 'em coming! |
