I have to open some PPSX files, and since I want to stay inside Impress so I can see the slides (since in Ubuntu10.04 64-bit that I'm using, it automatically starts the slide full-screen, but said full screen is half off the screen and I can still see most of the rest of my screen, and cannot see full slide contents). Even if I go to the last slide, and click again, it closes Impress.

Rename the file to PPTX and it still does the same. Even if I start Impress first then File > Open, it does the same as the above. Is there no way Impress can open PowerPoint 2007 files? I got the impression (pardon the pun) that it could but I ain't seeing anything that looks like me being able to use OOo to open these evil files.

Thanks

OOo 3.3, open the ppsx file.
when the filters window pops-up,
select: Impress MS PowerPoint 2007 XML

I'm using Debian 6.0 now so I don't think I have this problem anymore. I forgot I had this thread, so thanks for the advice.

I'm using OO v3.4 and it won't open Microsoft .ppsx files which is a disaster for me as several people are sending them to me and I can't view them. There is no error displayed, Impress just won't display the contents.

Any solutions?

With OO 3.4.1 I don't even get that far. Impress opens but shows nothing on the screen.

Sadly that doesn't work with 3.4.1.

The only solution I have found is to use an online conversion service like DocsPal to covert the .ppsx file to a plain .pps.
