Drawing Templates for Electrical Engineering

Does anyone know where there is a collection of Symbols for Electrical Engineering with things like resistors, capacitors, switches, BJTs, etc.

I know M$ Visio Pro has all these things. I'm just hoping there is something similiar in Draw.

Hallo mattdough.
I don't know if there is a collection of such symbols for DRAW. But try "Dia" (http://www.gnome.org/projects/dia/). Dia runs under Windows and Linux. Maybe you will find there some of your desired symbols. You can save them as picture and import them in any OOo-application. Best of luck. joerg04

Another option is for you to search on http://www.openclipart.org part of the freedesktop.org. Which is on SVG format but can easily be transform into another file-format.

I am sure I saw electrical-images like resistors and such. Good luck with your search.

Go to "Divers" at the end of the page, and download : "Nombres, Dominaux, Objets ...", "Composants" and "Electricité". Or you can also download the whole "w gallery" directory at the bottom of the page (10 mo), which has all the images of the page.
To use the images, just open the zip files, and check if the files are gallery themes (ext : sdg, sdv, thm). If so then you can copy them directly to your gallery directory. If they are other image formats, then unzip them to your hard drive, and add them to the gallery using the "new "theme" tab in OOo.

Galleries come in a .tar.gz file containing three files. These files should be uncompressed and copied to one of your "Gallery" directories. Please click Tools/Options/OpenOffice.org/Paths in an OpenOffice application and look at the "Gallery" entry to see what directories you can copy them to. After you've copied the files to a gallery directory and restarted OpenOffice, you will see them listed in the gallery. To see the gallery, click "Tools/Gallery." If the gallery is open but minimized, you can also click on the small down arrow below the filename at the top left of your application.

Note: It is important not to overwrite any existing files in your gallery directory that might have the same name. To help avoid this, all galleries you download from OOExtras will have the name sd2XX.* and will be unique. In other words, the number of all our galleries will be start in the 200's.

Note: If you are using Windows, you will have to exit the application loader in the system tray before the new galleries will appear. You can still use the application loader, you just have to quit and restart it.

You might be interrested by the DSciences OOo extension (screenshots there), which brings macros and a new specific toolbar to be used with their specific drawings gallery (to which everybody can contribute).
Although it is in French, it should not be too difficult to use.
