Hi! I'm new here and just started to enjoy OpenOffice and thought that I will choose it over Microsoft Word but there seems to be a problem with MathType and OpenOffice. When I create a new equation in Mathtype and just cut the whole thing out from MT and paste it into Microsoft word, it just inserts it as some picture and it seems perfectly aligned with the text. Now, when I cut that same equation and paste it into OO, it just throws it somewhere on the paper. I don't know how to get the same result as in MW. Solutions appreciated. Thanks!

You have to play around with the "anchoring" property of your object. It probably is inserted as "Anchored t paragraph" by default. Right-click your Mathtypeobject and then choose Anchor - As character. Then, your object will position just like a (big) character.

I tried to insert mathematical formulas in a text document using Insert/Object/Formula, using 001.1.1 but everytime they come out as a block of object, and when exported to pdf it comes out as the raw formula/ code (eg. <dy> over <dx>)

Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your answer ftack, but I already tried that without much success. I guess I will stick to Microsoft Word for that kinda stuff even though I would prefer to use OpenOffice.
