I've inserted an index in a text document, but I can't write anything on it, it is protected, what can I do?

Right-click the index, then select "Edit Index/Table" and uncheck "Protect against manual changes". Be aware that any manual edits to the table are lost if ever you need to regenerate the TOC, so avoid having to manually edit the TOC in the first place. If there is a particular reason why you feel you should edit the table, post it here. We may be able to come up with an alternate solution that does not involve editing the table.
