Hi All
Am looking for some help with Base from an expert....
I'm running OOBase 3.2 on Kubuntu 10.04.
I designed a Membership DB some time back that works fine BUT I do get a lot of Power Cuts here and have the following problems...
1) Base does NOT seem to 'Save Record on Exit' which is what I'm used to from all DB Software I've used in the past. Is this correct?
2) The only way to save is to exit the Form Layout and then close the whole program down. BUT the first step takes about 1min to close and the second step about 5 to 10mins to close!!!! Why does it take so long to do this?? When I re-start after a Power Cut I get the 'Recovery Window' but this also does not recover any of the info I have put in since the last full shutdown. ?????? Other software I use, including OOWrite and OOCalc etc do not show this problem!
I have about 2000 records (about 50% fully populated) with approx 70 fields and two photos in each record. Not exactly "Heavy Duty"!!! I have lost so much info because of this and frequently have to re-enter data again!! I have to crack this one as it makes the system totally unreliable!!
It has been suggested that I change the DB Engine . Will this help and if so to what and how?
Last of all I have installed the new LibreOffice software but can not get the LOBase to 'see' my Database. How can I do this to test it in the new software?
Thanks for any help _________________ Ian Whitfield

If you search the archive, you will find at least one discussion... that one was a while ago... about a macro to flush your RAM to your hard drive each time you exited an edited record.
Ah! Since writing the above... found it...

As it was a while ago... maybe the need for the sort of flush it did is no longer relevant....
Sorry! |
