| Hi, I'm in college and all the professors say I need Microsoft Office 2010 and I believe that the file format is .docx, now if I send them a .doc file from open office, will they be able to open it? Or can I save my documents in .docx format so they can open my documents? I guess the overall question is can they open my documents with Microsoft Office 2010. I appreciate your feedback, thanks! |

They should be able to open a .doc file format, and if they send you a .docx file, you should be able to open it.
I don't know if the newest version of OpenOffice.org. can save .docx files, but the new LibreOffice can save .docx files. _________________ Laugh at life or life will laugh at you. |

Neither the latest stable OOo 3.3 nor the latest developer build of OOo 3.4 can save to docx. As for LO, its export to docx is horrible, and I recommend against it. Better save to doc (MSO 2010 will open such files). If you really need export to docx, use odf converter [1] via command line or via integrator [2], it produces much better results as compared to LO.
