Hello! I'm new to Openoffice so please bear with me! Very Happy

Just to paraphrase the question, what i'm referring to is about 'delinking' my document from a database.

Currently, what I'm trying to do is that I have a database (made in OOBase) which contains information about my employees. I have various documents which require me to fill in their Name, ID, Address, etc. and I have linked the documents to the database (F4 --> drag the appropriate Name / ID / etc. into writer and click 'Data to Fields')

This works well when I'm printing the documents (since it's a hard copy and no one sees that it's actually a field) but I'd like to keep an archive of each document separately and hence it's unacceptable to have the document linked to a database.

Thus, I'd like to change the field to a plain text. If that is possible, that would be great! Thanks for reading this ((:

The easiest way is to use the macro I"ve stored here:
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=115398
How to deal with a macro found here:
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=99057

Other ways:

Save to Word format. You won't see the change on screen but when you reopen the .doc file the fields will be text. You can then, if desired, Save As back to .odt.

Select a field > Copy > Edit* > Paste Special > Unformatted Text.

* If you use the Copy icon then Unformatted Text is conveniently in the drop down menu by the Paste icon.
