Impress "not responding" when copying slides

Hi all.

Not sure I'm alone in this.
Or if anyone has any tips to help.

I'm trying to combine a number of powerpoint presentations into one large presentation before editing the whole thing down using OO3.3

However when I select the slides (say 40 of them), Impress freezes. It may (after a minute or so) unfreeze... but then when I try to paste the slides into the new presentation... its freeze again for much longer.

I am:
Running: Win 7. OpenOffice3.3
4GB of Ram. Pen Dual core processor.
Not running lots of other programmes.
The slides themselves aren't complicated - just text and background.

Any idea whats going on?
