I'm talking about click-dragging, so I wouldn't have to use the scrollbars.
I've tried Control / Alt / Shift + Left / Right / Middle to no avail and I can't seem to find this in the input device configuration either.
I guess this question applies to OpenOffice in general, not just Draw. |

| Not sure this is an OOo question as such. This is a functionality that is or may be provided by your mouse. A click of my Logitech mouse wheel provides this capability. |

My mouse does have a middle (scroll) button and click-dragging works fine in other applications (GIMP, InkScape) but not in any OOo app.
Maybe it's some Ubuntu or Gnome configuration issue.
Could you please tell me what OS and OOo version You're using?
Also, I suppose it worked for You out-of-the-box, right? |

Works for me too, using an A4tech wireless mouse, but only in Writer and Calc. In Draw, Impress and Math, the middle button behaves as a left button.
There is an option for setting middle button behaviour in Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - View. Selecting the "paste from clipboard" action works in all applications, which suggests that the middle button is correctly caught in all applications, but the programming of the "graphic workspace" does not handle the scrolling action correctly. (i.e. it's a bug). Haven't checked if it's in the bugtracker... |

Ah, so there is an OOo setting. Didn't know that.

| OOo3.3 under Windows. Doesn't work in Draw for me either. |

Yeah...sort of works, but not in Draw.
And the available auto-scroll is not the same as click-drag panning, which I find more intuitive/natural, as the movement of the mouse corresponds to the movement of the 'paper'.
I hope it will be implemented sometime. |

Strange...for me, scrolling my mouse wheel in OO.org Draw v 3.2.1 on WinXP and Win 7 pans up and down (vertically).
Holding [shift] and scrolling pans left and right.
Holding [crl] and scrolling zooms in and out...
I just have a standard mouse plugged into the PS/2 port. Nothing fancy.
This behaviour works for me. Mind you, I'm not clicking middle mouse button and then dragging the mouse. maybe that's what you were trying. |
