I am very new at computors. That said my problem is this. I want to place product on a new website. I have a file with the pictures and a spreadsheet with the prices in one of the columns. Both are considerable in size. How can I put these to the website without doing all 11000 one at a time? Also I need to have the price of each item listed under the picture. I know this is possible but I am to green to know how.
Thanks for any help offered,
tortadon |

Might not be an OOo question, but let's see:
1) what operating system are you using?
2) which OOo version
3) you really have ONE file with 11000 pictures
4) which format they are
5) please provide a sample row / description of your sheet: in which cell is the identifier for the product and where is the price
6) would you really like to have ONE webpage with 11000 pics on it (considering loading time!). What about grouping by product groups
Generally spoken:
7) uploads to a server (webserver, that is) using a ftp program, which understands the "mput" (multiple put) command: mput *.jpg, so there's no need for issuing thousands commands
There are many image manipulations out there which can generate web pages with a single command
9) There are web site generation programs, which could be a help, too
Please be a bit more specific
and btw: what's location SC (USA, South Carolina?)
G'day from Down Under _________________ Cheers

We use windows xp and our OOo is Perfect Small Business Office Suite. Yes 11000 pics of jewelry. The ladies have to have their choice you know. The format is jpeg.Actually I should have said in groups. The pictures are listed in catagories. The spread sheet is not but each pic has a number that shows up in the spread sheet in the item column. Yes We live in Summerville, South Carolina which is 20 minutes from Charleston, South Carolina. Nice weather and friendly people we also sell in a market in Charleston and get to meet people from all over the world.
Here are some samples.

Hi Jim,
see your point.
Giving the data in the calc: you can add the picture to a cell, but this will result in an un-handable file.
I think (and ask again, if I'm wrong) you'd like to have a website structure like
(maybe main page ahead)
Jewellery
GroupName1 Description1 (maybe example picture1)
GroupName2 Description2 (maybe example picture2)
[and so on]
Then pages:
GroupName1 Description1
Item1 smallPicture1 Description1 Price1 add2cart-Button
Item2 smallPicture2 Description2 Price2 add2cart-Button
[and so on]
The smallPictures should have a link to a greaterPicture, giving full view and details, and possibility to order.
So, the point is (IMHO):
you can use OOo to have generated the detail pages, BUT, best would be to go for a specialised shopping program with import facility. They AFAIK can import common formats as CSV, which you can produce from OOo. And they come with a thumbnail generator...
I know that some web space providers have modules that will generate shop systems, too.
OOo isn't a web site creator and not a shopping system: you'll need shopping cart, credit card, mailing details functionality and so on.
If there is a need OOo can generate, for instance, single pages with text from the calc file and add the picture (will need some macros to do that), but I guess this wouldn't fit your needs.
If you have questions about exporting data to feed a program, feel free to ask again on this forum. _________________ Cheers

actually I have the website up shopping cart and all. The website is justright4yall.com
I am just trying to get around loading all these products in one at a time. I still have leather and another group of nothing but Amber pieces to do.
Thanks for your help though Winfried.I have enjoyed your kindness.
So good things all over you,

So, question still is "how to upload?"? Could you please rephrase your question. (I'm not a native english speaker, please forgive my ignorance)
Well, I'm on Linux and can use ftp (file transfer protocol) to connect to a server and treat it like a folder on local machine (i.e. using COPY commands with wildcards). Or use my Konqueror (i.e. Linux's Explorer) to drag&drop files from a local folder to a server folder. I'm pretty sure ftp still exists in XP, try a command line with "ftp -help". _________________ Cheers
