|
|
I'm having a hard time looking for a solution on how to insert Excel file in Impress. I did click in the Menu Bar the Insert > File then look for my excel file but there's a prompt message telling "The file could not be loaded". What should I do? please help. Thanks! _________________ **********************************************************

Why would you want to insert an excel file into Impress??? The former is a spreadsheet, the latter is a presentation. _________________ --

Thanks for the reply Mr. Moderator,
anyways, because the needed file is in xls format.
They have to insert it and present it in impress form.
In Powerpoint, as soon as you insert the excel format,
you just have to double click the excel, then make any changes
then save it, then automatically, updated in powerpoint.
but in OOo, double click the spreadsheet, then another window for the
spreadsheet, then that's it. you have to insert it again
every now and then as you made changes in spreadsheet. _________________ **********************************************************

You are referring to an embedded object indeed. This should also work with Impress through Copy - Paste Special.
Just a "Copy - Paste" will probably insert the data as an Impress table. Instead, use "Copy - Paste special". Under "selection" select the appropriate format. If I copy-paste from Calc (cannot test with Excel here), I see an option "calc". Clicking that, then "OK" will insert the copied data as an OLE object into the presentation.
This object can be edited "in place" by double clicking. If you right-click the object, you will find the commands "Ole object", which also will allow this "in place" editing. Fortunately, in recent versions, a "Outplace OLE object" command has been added, allowing to edit the object in a separate window.
For an excel object, there probably will be no "in-place" editing. The object will be opened in a separate Excel window.
Another option to insert an ole object, rather than copy - paste special, is to use Insert - Object - OLE object. _________________ --

Woah! Great! I got it already..
Thanks! That was really helpful.
The reason why I have to know this,
is because i'm going to present pointers, advantages
and different things about OpenOffice overpowering MSOffice.
(which is possible to happen..right??? )
Many thanks to you.. _________________ **********************************************************
