I know this must be a BASIC question, so please excuse my ignorance, but ...
I have been sent a text document written in OPEN Office (1.1.2) attached to an email and can't open it.
What do I do?
thanks,
Len |

| Do you have OOo installed in your system? what version of OOo and what OS. Please describe in more details. Do you mean that you are unable to download the attachment? If that is so that could be the problem with your email client. In short, we need more details please. |

Thanks for your help.
Yes, OO is on the system of the person who sent me the file, but not on mine. I'm not sure what OS they are using, but it's not XP. Probably Win98. (I'm using XP) The OO version is 1.1.2
The attachment came through fine and downloaded onto my desktop. It has a .sxw extension. I was not able to open it. Is there a small app I need to get from the OO site to be able to read OO docs?
The person who sent me the file says some other people have also been unable to open the OO files she is sending them.
Any clues?
thanks,
Len |

Without OOo installed, you won't be able to read .sxw files. Ask her to re-send them either as .doc files (if you need to edit them), or PDF, since OOo will save directly to PDF. As an OOo fan, I would encourage you to give it a go, but at around 70MB, it's not a "small app" to download. _________________ Noho ora mai, ka kite ano.

Ah. There's a setting!
Thank you VERY much. I'll ask her to hunt for the right 'save as' button.
Many thanks,
Len

Hi mcgrane,
alternatively, you could convert the file yourself here:
