I wrote my first Novel Z4CK on SHARP Zaurus. The editing, and proof reading was done with Open Office...its a brilliant product. I managed to prove I could create the whole book using Open Source software....Microsoft not in site. It's all you need...Toshiba Laptop, Blackbox, Open Office and GIMP.
Created the PDF with it too...
Cheers,

Hey I am writing a book too, but how are you maintaing the chapters etc? By that I mean have you defined a header for each individual chapter in your document? I am unable to figure out how I can create a different header for the different chapters |

Hi,
With regard to headers and footers, they are the same throughout the book. They do not change from chapter to chapter. I simply have the website address www.z4ck.org across the top of the PDF, which I also created with OO.

| Generally different headers require different page styles; however, if you just want your header to reflect your different chapters you can do it with 1 page style using Insert > Fields > Other > Document tab, where Type = Chapter and Format = your choice. |
